Subject and predicate
A nominal sentence is built on a nominative subject and predicate.
الْعِلْمُ نُورٌ
| الْعِلْمُ | Nominative subject |
|---|---|
| نُورٌ | Nominative predicate |
The mubtadaʾ opens the nominal sentence; the khabar completes it. Both are nominative by default.
